THE FEAR ROOM

Clue:

Your thoughts become your reality.
Choose the light of curiosity and appreciation to awaken the return to essence.
Choose negativity and fear to create a life of bondage and pain.

What did Malory uncover in the Fear Room?

For this room, we are going to look at what Malory, Ellie’s teammate, experienced.

Malory realized in her fear room that she had been in denial around the relationship with her father. She so badly wanted it to be a certain way and thought it was her fault it wasn’t, that she was unable to see what was really happening within her relationship with her father.

What was her key out?

Malory really had to face into the truth that was right in front of her. Instead of trying the same thing over and over, it was time for her to really look, to awaken to the reality of the situation. She did this by following the clue questions: What haven’t I fully faced? What’s the hardest thing to accept about this? What do I really want?

Apply these learnings to your own life:

This is an exercise that can be used often. When we are not able to process consciously negative, fearful or hurtful feelings and experiences in our lives, we will often put up a wall to really seeing what is there. I recommend you go through these steps several times a week just to check in to see if there is anything you are may not be facing. Why? So that you can consciously choose the way you see and live your life!

This exercise is created by the Hendricks Institute is called FACT: Facing, Accepting, Choosing, Taking action

F – Turn toward an issue, something that is causing you stress, conflict or concern.

Ask yourself: “What have I not directly faced about this issue?”

Example: “I feel stressed at work and I dread my Monday morning meeting. I have not faced the fact that I do not like my boss and feel bullied by their questions every Monday meeting.”

A – Relax your body by breathing deeply and consciously relax your muscles.

Ask yourself: “What is the hardest thing for me to accept about this issue?”

Example: “I don’t want to accept or see that I may not be happy in my job anymore. It pays the bills, but I’m really not motivated or passionate about what I am doing.”

C – Again, take a few deep breaths and wiggle your fingers and toes to get grounded in your body.

Ask yourself: “What do I really want?”

Example: “I really want a job that I’m excited about and feel good about myself when I’m doing it.”

T – Continue to breathe and move.

Ask yourself: “What’s the easiest, measurable action step I can take to begin creating what I really want? By when?”

Example: “I can journal about ideas on what I really want to do. Is there something I can do on the side that will fulfill this want or am I ready to adventure out into a new job? I will set aside an hour tonight and another hour this weekend to journal on these two questions.”
